Honey-Glazed Ham with Apricots

I was never the biggest fan of ham, which was a holiday tradition in my house growing up. The sticky honey- or maple-based coating was sweet but nothing else, and the same every year. And though I loved sweet things, I didn’t really want my meat to be sweet. This Honey-Glazed Ham with Apricots was my attempt at compromise for my holiday ham-lovin’ partner. Adding apricots adds some interest and gives the glaze some depth. I may not be the biggest ham fan, but I actually couldn’t get enough of this one! It’s also great with orange marmalade in place of the apricot preserves, if that’s easier for you to make or come by.

- 1 cup honey
- 1/4 cup apricot preserves
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 1/4 cup maple sugar
Equipment
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325F and place the ham in a large roasting pan.
- Combine the honey, preserves, oil, and sugar in a bowl, whisking until smooth.
- Brush about 1/4 of the mixture over the entire surface of the ham.
- Bake the ham for about 15 minutes per pound, removing from the oven once every fifteen minutes to brush with more glaze until all the glaze is gone.
- Rotate the ham about halfway through to prevent over-cooking on any one side.
