Adjust the ratio of peaches to apples to taste! Heck, leave the apples out entirely if you’ve got a ton of peaches lying around. Add seasonings to taste and you’ve got great hot or cold preserves.

Peach Applesauce
Ingredients
- 5 pounds apple chopped
- 2 pounds peach chopped
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon optional
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger optional
Equipment
Instructions
- Combine the fruit and water in a large stock pot and bring to a boil over high heat.
- Reduce the heat to medium and stir occasionally while the sauce simmers, uncovered, for 25 minutes.
- Mash until desired consistency is reached, then serve, freeze, or can.

wow..this recipe packs a ton of carbs for one serving. Do you ever use Stevia by chance..what is your overall view on Stevia. I do not use any other artificial sweetener…except Stevia (which is natural from a leaf) once in a blue moon. I love maple syrup or honey for a sweetener. I try to stay away from sweeteners of any kind as much as possible. But, good grief, you have to have something sweet, right!….even fruit can be loaded with large amounts of carbs per serving. (I share this only because diabetes runs in my family..so I have to be careful.) This recipe has all of my favorite things and so yummy looking…going to make soon. I’ll just sneak a couple tablespoons at a time. 🙂
Thanks for pointing that out, Lynn! I recently updated this recipe for batch cooking but forgot to adjust the serving size. The numbers should be accurate now. Stevia is not Paleo- or autoimmune-friendly as it may affect reproductive hormones, especially in women. The carbs in fruit are generally considered to be good carbs because they come with vitamins and minerals but if you are concerned about diabetes you should follow your doctor’s recommendations.

If I may ask…what is the serving size calculated for this recipe? (1/4 cup, 1/2 cup etc. ?) If you didn’t calculate for it….I’ll try to figure it out when I make this. Going to be on our Thanksgiving buffet table. 🙂
I do not have diabetes at this time, but was told to watch my carbs because I was a tad over 100 in the ratio for pre-diabetes. However, my husband is diabetic and being treated now since 2001. Thus, why I always watch for total carbs and serving size when viewing all recipes. 😉
The serving size will vary depending on how chunky you leave the sauce. I usually eat 1/4-1/3 cup at a time, about the volume of a single peach or apple.
