Steaming, spicy sweet potato is a wonderful addition to chili. It’s hearty and robust and has a similar texture to the beans a traditional recipe might call for. This one is autoimmune protocol-compliant, so you won’t find any dairy or nightshades, either! This can be made with chicken or ground beef, but I think chicken is a better complement to the spice blend.

  1. Hello Christina! I’m a new blogger specifically focused on foods for people with sensitive stomachs/food sensitivities. I saw your recipe for the sweet potato chili and was so excited! Because of my own particular food allergies, I have never been able to eat chilis so this recipe was a big deal for me! Of course with anything I eat, I still have to update a few things to make sure I wouldn’t have to use my epi-pen but I am really in love with this dish and it is all thanks to you! Would you mind if I put the link to the recipe onto my blog for my followers to check out? I’m sure they will be just as excited.

    1. Hi Alyssa! I’m glad you like the recipe, that’s the kind of stuff I like to hear!!! Feel free to share the link to it wherever you like. Thanks, and congrats on your blog!

  2. Just wondering if you’ve tried a longer amount of time in the crock pot. Because of work, 7 hours is better for me. Thoughts?

P.s. Just had you nomato w spaghetti squash and it was delicious!

    1. On low heat, seven hours should be fine. Glad you liked the spaghetti!!!

      1. Thanks!
I ended up using ground chicken, sautéing it with the onions and then adding everything else, boiling, and then letting it simmer. Another winner!

  3. Hi, I wanted to check before preparing this recipe- is the chicken supposed to be precooked or raw for this recipe?

  4. For instant pot, are you using the slow cook tab and increasing to 3 hours?
